For the first time since its debut in October 2016, enterprise platform Workplace by Facebook is raising its rates, detailing three new plans and one add-on option.
Workplace by Facebook vice president Julien Codorniou introduced the new pricing tier in a blog post, along with details about when it goes into effect.
Workplace Essential is the enterprise platform’s free tool, and it will roll out in 2020. It provides basic communication and collaboration features, including Workplace Chat, video chat, and groups. Current Workplace Standard customers will be migrated to Workplace Essential upon its debut.
Workplace Advanced will replace current offering Workplace Premium Sept. 2. It provides all of the features of Workplace Essential, along with advanced administration controls, for $4 per person, per month. Existing Workplace Premium customers will be migrated to Workplace Advanced Sept. 2.
Workplace Enterprise is aimed at organizations that require a higher level of support, due to size, industry or other factors that add to the complexity of serving them. It includes all Workplace Advanced features, as well as the initial support response time of four hours, priority support resolution and early access to new features. It costs $8 per person, per month, and it will also debut Sept. 2.
The Workplace Frontline add-on for Workplace Advanced and Workplace Enterprise costs $1.50 per person, per month, and makes it easier for customers to connect their frontline workers. It also includes conditional access controls so that admins can manage employee access to the platform outside of working hours.

Codorniou added that an early rollout of Workplace Advanced and Workplace Enterprise will begin in some Asia-Pacific countries July 22, and existing customers will receive emails from Workplace by Facebook or one of its partners detailing what the upcoming changes mean for them.
He wrote, “This is just the next step on our journey to give the world a place to work together. We’ll continue to develop and refine Workplace in partnership with our customers. And we’ll continue to innovate and build features that make work even faster, bring people even closer and make company culture even stronger.”
